Self-regulating heating cables
As a global specialist in the field of electric trace heating, we offer a comprehensive range of self-regulating heating cables (ELSR). Our self-regulating heating cables are the ideal choice for a wide range of applications. Thanks to the various models available for low, medium and high temperatures, these self-regulating heating cables can be used both for frost protection and for maintaining the temperature of various media.

A wide range of applications
Thanks to a chemical-resistant protective sheath, our self-regulating heating cables are not only suitable for use as pipe trace heating – for water pipes, for example – but also for use in environments containing aggressive substances. Self-regulating heating cables offer the advantage that they do not overheat, even when laid in a criss-cross pattern. Furthermore, our range includes various heating cables with the relevant approvals for potentially explosive atmospheres, as well as a specially tailored product range for use in the USA and Canada.
Detailed information on rated voltage, bending radius and permissible ambient temperatures, as well as approvals and downloads, can be found on the respective product pages.
Safe assembly
Self-regulating heating cables consist of two parallel power conductors embedded in a cross-linked heating element doped with carbon particles. As the temperature rises, molecular expansion causes the distances between the carbon particles to increase. This increases the electrical resistance, automatically reducing the heating output. When the temperature falls, the resistance decreases again and the output increases accordingly.
Through this physical effect, the heating cable regulates its heat output automatically and reliably prevents the trace heating system from overheating – even when laid in a criss-cross pattern. In many applications, this means that additional control technology and other accessories are not required.

FAQ
Self-regulating heating cables consist of two parallel power conductors embedded in a cross-linked resistive heating element doped with carbon particles. As the temperature rises, the distances between the carbon particles increase due to molecular expansion. The resistance increases and the power output decreases, and vice versa. This process regulates the heat and prevents the trace heating system from overheating.
