Heating mats
In addition to our range of heating cables and hoses, we at eltherm have also specialised in heating mats, thanks to our in-house sewing workshop. Here, one of our eltherm heating cables is sewn into each heating mat by hand and custom-made for the specific object to be heated, to ensure optimum heat distribution when heating industrial applications.
Installation and use of heating mats
Heating mats are the ideal solution for simple, flat surfaces that need to be heated to maintain temperature or to protect against frost. A heating mat usually consists of an inner fabric, a backing fabric, the embedded heating wire, insulation and an outer fabric. Thanks to its very flat design, it conforms well to the object to be heated. The choice of materials used depends on the operating conditions – criteria include, amongst others, the location of use and the operating temperature.
The heating cable is sewn onto the backing fabric by hand in our own production facility, in accordance with the prior calculations and design. All other fabric layers are also assembled individually in accordance with the customer’s specifications. For this reason, heating mats are always made to order and are not standard products. It is also possible to set up multiple heating zones or to connect several heating mats together. On request, heating mats can also be manufactured separately from the insulation and, depending on the specification, are suitable for use in potentially explosive atmospheres.
Silicone heating mats are used wherever very complex structures need to be heated and a specific temperature must be reached and maintained. They are versatile and can be manufactured in almost any shape and size. Silicone heating mats are either glued directly onto the mould to be heated or secured using clamping eyelets. Silicone heating mats are also splash-proof and washable.

In heating mats, the heating wire is sewn onto the backing material. It converts electricity into heat and heats the heating mat.
Heating mats are used, amongst other things, to heat various drums, IBCs, hobbocks, containers, extruders, pipework and fans. Depending on the choice of material, eltherm’s heating mats are also approved for use in potentially explosive atmospheres.

Heating mats are particularly impressive due to their very slim design. This means they can always be used in places where there is limited space for heating.
