Products for use in hazardous areas
Where process reliability, explosion protection and energy efficiency are crucial, electric trace heating systems are the tried-and-tested solution for demanding industrial temperature control applications.
Potentially explosive atmospheres arise where flammable substances can form an explosive mixture with air. Typical examples include chemical plants, refineries, paint shops, mills, silos and biogas plants. To protect against explosions, these areas are divided into different zones. Electrical and mechanical equipment must be specifically approved for use in these areas and must comply with explosion protection requirements in terms of design and manufacturing quality.

Safety through certified quality
The eltherm organisation is officially certified and monitored by ATEX and IECEx as a manufacturer of products for potentially explosive atmospheres. Many eltherm products and solutions are also approved, certified and tested in accordance with national and regional standards, including those of the USA, Canada, Brazil, Russia (EAC), China and South Africa.
As a member of relevant committees for international electrical trace heating standardisation, such as IEC 60079-30-1 and -2, and IEC 62395-1 and -2, we help shape future safety requirements.
