Mineral-Insulated Clean Laser Seal Trace Heater
The ELK-MI VA heating cable is supplied by eltherm pre-assembled and ready for installation. It consists of a single- or two-wire trace heating system that is connected to mineral-insulated cold leads (copper conductors with cross-sections of 2.0, 2.5, 3.3, or 5.0 mm²) via a precise laser seal (splice).
The outer sheath is made of high-quality stainless steel 1.4541 (AISI 321). The open end of the cold conductor is seamlessly sealed and connected to a flexible supply cable whose diameter matches that of the cold conductor. Additionally, an earth connection with a conductor cross-section of 1.5 mm² is provided.
At the end of each cold lead is a pressure-resistant stainless steel compression ring fitting made of 1.4404 (AISI 316L) with an M20 × 1.5 or M25 × 1.5 thread. A molded end seal reliably protects the fitting against potential loss.
Each heating cable is supplied with a nameplate containing all relevant information and markings. The maximum holding temperatures also specified there are based on the maximum permissible jacket temperature determined by eltherm.
